| Tony Roma™s, the world
famous grill restaurant renowned for its variety of ribs is
set to come to Belfast - thanks to the Hughes family whose
involvement in the Northern Ireland licensing trade has
spanned over two decades. Securing the Franchise to open five
restaurants throughout Ireland is a major coup for the
Hughes™ company Drumard Trading Ltd, who plan to open
Ireland™s first Tony Roma™s in Belfast™s City Centre in
July 2005. An investment of £2.5 million being ploughed into
each Tony Roma™s will see the creation of 50 new jobs per
restaurant. Commenting on the deal John Hughes, Chief
Executive Officer, Drumard Trading Ltd said “Our discussions
with the Romacorp Group have been ongoing for over three
years, so we’re delighted to have secured the Franchise
Partnership for this World Famous Restaurant. We believe that
we’re creating a dining experience that customers will
return to enjoy time and again. With almost 300 restaurants
established in more than 27 countries world wide, as the strap
line suggests, Tony Roma’s is famous for ribs but John
insists that Belfast will have its own signature dish, served
by a very special team: “We are currently recruiting staff
for our Belfast venture – who will then be flown to the
States for 11 weeks of training, before returning to deliver
the Tony Roma’s experience in Belfast. Speaking from
their headquarters in Dallas, David Head, President & CEO
of Romacorp Inc said, “We are very fortunate to work with a
quality franchise partner such John and his team in developing
Tony Roma’s in this new Irish market. The Hughes family have
fantastic experience in the restaurant and pub business, so
we’re looking forward to the development of a strong and
successful Tony Roma’s brand in these areas. “The
completion of this deal is great for Tony Roma’s continued
expansion in the European markets, said Head. “With
franchise partners currently in Spain, England, Germany and
the Middle East, we are continuing to attract strong groups
who are developing first class Tony Roma’s operations.
We’re pleased to be adding John and his team to our system
and look forward to supporting their growth and goals. Ends
